THE FIRST ADVENTURE
The adult book RUBY HEART – The Legend Begins was written after I had created the manuscript for a Christmas Musical. This is how it happened:
I was walking my dog one morning not long after Dad went home to be with our Lord, and was thinking about him when suddenly I saw in full technicolor
Dad’s story of the Ruby Heart with choirs of angels and more. When it was over, I thanked the Lord for sharing it and told Him how much I enjoyed that. His response?
“Now go write it down!”
Surprisingly enough I got it done – well enough for a conductor to be able to read it, at least. I sat back with a sigh, only to hear the Lord speak again!
“Now write the adult novel!”
By now I knew better than to question Him.
As I understood Dad’s story, Ruby was just a prop used to get his point across to his listeners: You can give your heart to Jesus. As I began outlining the first book, Ruby was still just a prop.
The story’s main character, a small boy becomes a young man in the adult version, with special abilities of his own. He receives the Ruby Heart after the rite of passage into adulthood. As his father and grandmother before him, he immediately sees visions in Ruby’s facets.
But where did Ruby come from?Who made her – or formed her into the heart-like shape? What is her purpose?
Why do some people see visions in her facets?
These questions are only partially answered in the first book.
